SAN ANTONIO (May 6, 2013) – Papouli’s Greek Grill, the local chain known for their Greek foods, joined the ¡Por Vida! program, which provides healthy options at local restaurants and other facilities. Papouli’s Greek Grill will offer ¡Por Vida! meals on both the adult and children’s menu.
“We’re very excited to have all the Papouli’s locations join ¡Por Vida!,” says Metro Health’s Chronic Disease Prevention Manager, Kathleen Shields. “The health benefits of a balanced Mediterranean diet have been widely recognized by the medical community, and having Papouli’s combine that with ¡Por Vida! guidelines is great for restaurant goers.”
A ¡Por Vida! registered dietitian analyzed several ¡Por Vida! approved meals to be served at all the four locations. All these meal options follow the strict ¡Por Vida! nutritional criteria where a meal cannot exceed 700 calories, 23 grams of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 0.5 grams of trans fat, 750 mg of sodium and no fried foods. Some of Papouli’s ¡Por Vida! menu items include: Chicken Salad España, Traditional Greek Side Salad, as well as a ¡Por Vida! approved Kid’s Menu that includes Beef or Chicken on a Stick, fruit, vegetables, and non-sugar sweetened beverages which will be marked with the ¡Por Vida! logo.
“Papouli’s is committed to providing our guests with healthy options they will be proud to share with their families and loved ones,” said Nick Anthony, owner of Papouli’s. “On May 8th, we’ll be recognized alongside our peers for providing our guests with not only an easy alternative to a home-cooked meal, but a nutritious one, as well.”
